ABEOKUTA– The National Association of University Students (NAUS) has urged the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to beef up it’s surveillance on the highways as the country approach the Xmas and new year celebrations.
The Deputy National President, External and Diaspora Affairs, Comrade Babalola Daniel Femi in a statement made available to newsmen added that students who would be returning home should be well protected.
He noted that every students lives, both within the country and in diaspora matters, and such efforts must be geared towards providing maximum security.
“Some of our students will be returning home from the diaspora, some who may be alien to the security challenges in the country.
“We therefore urged all security agencies to provide maximum security of lives and properties of students and Nigerians especially during this festive period.
“To the students coming home from abroad they should also take caution about the security condition of the country that they should be security conscious”, he stressed
He therefore lauded the investments of all governments at all levels in security apparatus, adding that criminals should steer clear as the long arm of security agencies will soon catch up on them.
“We call on gun men and kidnappers to leave Nigeria students from their operation and they shouldn’t forget that the arm of the government will catch up with them if they don’t surrender and take a new turn”, he added
The students leader therefore felicitate with the students constituency on the celebration of Christmas, while wishing that the students experience a happy new year.
