ABEOKUTA– The Ogun state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has once again issued a seven day ultimatum to the state government over its inability to meet the Union’s demands
In a communique issued at the end of its State Executive Council (SEC) meeting, held Tuesday, the state President, Adefesobi Adebayo noted that it is disheartening that the state government has failed to listen to the yearnings of the local government workers.
Part of NULGE demands, include the full implementation of the Supreme Court judgement on Local Government Autonomy, return of the eroded Internally Generated Revenue, Pension Scheme reform, and consolidation of HOLGA’s salary, among others
“It is disheartening and discouraging that Ogun State Government has refused to listen to our yearnings and continue to disregard the demands of the Local Government workers in Ogun State, this has dampened the trust and morale of the entire workers at the third tier of government.
“Arising from the above, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, representing workers in the 20 Local Government met at the State Executive Council meeting today Tuesday 17th February, 2026 and resolved to issue another 7 days ultimatum to Government in order to address our demands, starting from Wednesday 18th February 2026 to Thursday 26th February, 2026.
“The union will not hesitate to imbibe any industrial action if our demands are not met after the deadline of this new ultimatum”, the communique reads
