IKOM– The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria (PCN) Four Corners Parish recently honored the Chairman of Ikom Local Government Area, Hon. Pst. [Mrs] Mercy Nsor, with a prestigious Award as the “Deborah Of Our Time.” The Minister in charge of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Four Corners Parish, Ikom Rt. Rev. Godwin Nwambara through an elder statesman, Amb. J.T. Ayambem presented the award to the Executive Chairman Of Ikom LGA.
The award, aptly titled “The Deborah of Our Time,” is a testament to the selfless and dedicated leadership style of the Honorable Chairman, which has today brought peace, unity, and economic stability to the Area Council. The title “Deborah” is a biblical reference to a Wise and Courageous leader who made a significant impact on her community. She was a prophet, judge, and leader who called on the Israelites to battle the Canaanites, the only female judge in the Old Testament, and a prophetess who spoke on God’s behalf.
In his remarks, Rt. Rev. Godwin Nwambara praised Hon. Nsor’s tireless efforts in transforming the lives of the people of Ikom Local Government Area. He noted that, just like Queen Deborah of old, the Council boss has risen beyond the natural laws of emergence but found herself as God’s own choice and liberator to the people of Ikom. “Honorable Chairman, your leadership has brought about significant development, peace, and progress in the various communities of Ikom LGA.” He added
Mrs. Stella Ndoma, the President of the Woman’s Guild, also commended Hon. Pst. Mercy Nsor’s commitment to empowering Women and promoting their welfare. She emphasized that the Chairman’s selfless service and compassion have made a lasting impact on the community.
In her response, the Executive Chairman expressed her gratitude to the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria Four Corners Parish for the honor, stating that the Church was where she started her Christian life, and the award is a testament to the fact that, indeed, God is all-knowing.
“I’ll continue to do my best and remain fair and just to all and sundry while impacting on the infrastructure, capital, and human needs of the people to actualize the dreams of Ikom people.” The Executive Chairman assured.
Notably, Pst. Nsor shared that her Christian journey began in the Presbyterian Church as a teenager, and this early foundation has helped in shaping her remarkable leadership and commitment to serving.
She dedicated the award to the Wife of the State Governors, Bishop [Mrs] Eyoawan Otu, for her Motherly counsel, support, and trust in her, which has helped in shaping her to become the Leader that she is today.
The event was attended by Political Appointees, Community Leaders, Members of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, and other very important dignitaries.
