ABEOKUTA– The Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo has been described as a unifying figure of unity, peace and development of Egbaland, Abeokuta and Ogun state in his 20 years reign.
Chief Oluyinka Kufile stated this while briefing newsmen as part of activities marking the monarch’s two decades reign in the ancient city of Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
Chief Kufile, who doubles as the Chairman, Organising Committee for the anniversary stated that monarch’s reign has helped to foster renewed spirit of brotherhood among the Egba people, adding that this has further strengthens the bond between the traditional institutions and government.
“The last twenty years have seen steady progress in infrastructural renewal, social advancement, and cultural renaissance, a true testament to the Alake’s wisdom, dignity and commitment to the welfare of his people.
“This anniversary is therefore not just a Royal celebration, but a festival of gratitude to Almighty God, to our forebears and to every Egba sons and daughters who continues to contribute to the glory of our land”, he said
Reeling out activities for the week long events, Chief Kufile said the events will includes cultural display, interdenominational thanksgiving services, youth and women empowerment.
Other activities listed includes medical screening and a grand civic reception in honour of the monarch by the Egba National Association of the USA and Canada.
Highpoint of the activities will be the Chieftaicy installation to recognize the contributions of eminent Egba sons and daughters, and well-meaning individuals to Egbaland.
The 20 years coronation anniversary for Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland will kick start from Friday, the 14th to Wednesday, the 19th of November, 2025
