ABEOKUTA– Indigene and residents of Obafemi community, located in Obafemi Owode Local Government area of Ogun state have been offered free medical care by old students of Egba Obafemi Grammar School (EOCGS).
Led by it’s President, Alhaji Mutiu Dada, the old students described the gesture as their contribution to the community that hosted their school, even as the outreach was extended to other adjoining villages.
Part of the medical care expended includes, blood pressure, sugar level, diabetes test, mental health checks and eyes screening, while medications was given out by the team of medical officials from Eye foundation and other medical team
Earlier, the old students had met in one of the classroom, and various decisions to improve the conditions of the school were taken, which includes reconstruction of some dilapidated structures in the school.
It was also agreed that there is need for regular quarterly meeting of the association for the benefits of individuals, community and the school.
The traditional ruler of the town, Oba Taofeek Owolabi who was also a former student of the college, later hosted the former students in his palace, a gathering, he described as a re-union after years of living the school
The benefiting communities includes, Ategun, Agboro, Apaipai, Itoko, Shilade and Ajala among others.
