Educationist Canvases Balance Between Vocational, Formal Education For National Development

ABEOKUTA– An educationist, Dr. Tayo Tejuosho, has emphasised the need for a balance between vocational and formal education in the pursuit of national socio-economic development

Tejuosho stated this while speaking with newsmen at the official opening of Shotec Citadel School, located at Orile-Imo in Obafemi Owode Local Government area of Ogun State.

He added that students would understand vocational training better and perform better, if they also acquire formal education.

He therefore advised parents to ensure that their children receive both formal education and vocational skills, adding that this balance is key to securing a brighter future for the next generation and building a better country.

He stressed that no Nigerian who desires success should venture into any career without a strong educational foundation particularly at the primary, secondary, and, where possible, tertiary levels.

Tejuosho, a United States of America based Nigerian, however lamented the negative perception of Nigeria, especially security, which discourages Nigerians in the diaspora from coming home to invest.

He noted that much of the news about Nigeria circulated globally focuses on negative reports, which dissuade potential investors who could otherwise contribute to national development.

He therefore appealed to the media to highlight the country’s positive stories and use their platforms to project Nigeria’s image in a way that attracts local and foreign investment.

In his remarks, the Olu of Orile Imo, Oba Reuben folorunso Sogaolu, described the establishment of the new primary and secondary schools as a significant step forward for the town, fulfilling part of the community’s current drive for growth and development.
