The National Association Of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended the Federal Government in its mechanism put in place to curtail the spread of the dreaded coronavirus in the country.
Speaking to newsmen through its Public Relations Officer, Comrade Azeez Adeyemi in Abeokuta, the student body call on the Nigerian Government to give account of all the counterparts funding it received from organisations to combat and curtail the spread of Covid-19 in Nigeria.
Adeyemi further stated that Nigeria must emulate all best hygiene practices and all state government within the country must demonstrate strength in character and capacity at this trying times.
“We are aware of the crucial roles of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), and the collaborating efforts of Health Practitioners and other civil societies”
“The government’s pronouncement on churches, mosques and other public places is commendable. In the same light, we are in full support of all federal government owned institutions from Federal colleges of education to universities and wish to enjoin all students to abide by the guidelines released by the federal government in curbing and mitigating the effects of all this deadly virus”
“We urge the Manufacturers Association Of Nigerian (MAN) and by extension the direct retailers not to take advantage of this pandemic of Covid-19 to inflate prises of commodities” the PRO said
Having received the rude shock of the first human casualty in Nigeria, NANS call on NCDC to be more proactive in dealing with cases of Covid-19 adding that it expects that the pandemic should be addressed aggressively.
NANS therefore call on the federal government and the entire world to use the moment as a test of bond, a moment to share love and to reflect on sustaining the universe adding that it’s will collaborate with appropriate authorities in sensitising the public through social media platforms, prints and electronics media to follow the directives of government and adhere strictly to it in their day to day activities
