ABEOKUTA–The secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Abeokuta South Local Government on Tuesday came alive as party faithful drawn from 15 wards converged to benefit from thousands of naira doled out to them.
Addressing the ardent party faithful on behalf of leaders of APC in the local government, under whose auspices the monetary rewards were given, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Honourable Afolabi Afuape explained that the ruling party would continue to appreciate the sacrifices and commitment of members.
According to him, the distribution of the monetary palliatives would be done from time to time in line with the party’s firm belief in rewarding loyalty as well as giving members a sense of belonging.
Honourable Afuape while reacting to the array of political heavyweights who have been pitching tent with the ruling party, especially in recent times, posited that indeed the APC is a Party for all, and expressed optimism that the Party would surely have a smooth sail to victory in future elections
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs while relaying the greetings of Governor Dapo Abiodun to members assured of even spread of dividends of democracy to the three Senatorial districts of the State
The Chairman of the Local Government, Chief Henry Fagbenro informed that the initiative started last year saying that 75 persons benefitted this month
In their separate remarks,some Chieftains of the party in the Local Government, Honourable Lekan Adegun, Honourable Nurudeeen Olaleye and a member of the Board of Directors at OGBC, Mrs Ranti Ogunmokun, called on members to remain one and united, noting that in unity lies strength.
They further charged members to always learn to settle whatever misunderstandings they have amicably, adding that the growth of the party remains the collective responsibility of all members.
