ABEOKUTA–The Ogun State Handball Association in partnership with Veteran handballers, home and diaspora is set to host the 4th Annual Late Chief Adetunji Jibowu handball competition for secondary schools in the state.
The competition which is expected to kick off via the zonal preliminary of Egba, Yewa, Remo and Ijebu from the 29th to 30th of October, 2023.
Semi final and finals of the competition of winners of all the zones will hold from 2nd to 3rd November, 2023 at the Alake Sports Center, Ijeja Abeokuta, the state capital.
The secretary of the handball association, Agboba Opeoluwa stated that about 20 schools have so far indicated interest in the competition.
He added that the competition is part of effort to develop the game especially among the schooling youth in the nooks and crannies of the State, while developing a pool for the country.
The Commissioner of Sports, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, the chairman, Ogun state house of Assembly Committee on Sports, Hon. Igbalaye Wasiu Ayodele (IWA), the Association Grand Patron, HRM Oba Adeogun Ogunbona, (the Olu of Igbore, Egbaland), the parton, Engr. Tosin Shittu, and other dignitaries are expected to grace the event
According to the organizers, winners and participants will be awarded fantastic prices, while calling on all teeming handball lovers to throng the sports complex to support the young talents.
