ABIA– The Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Emmanuel Ogbeche has indicted the former National President of the Union, Alh. Waheed Odusile of the sum of 21million naira.
Ogbeche stated this while moving the motion for adoption of the annual report and financial statements at the outgoing National Triennial delegates conference holding at the Michael Okpara Auditorium ,Umuahia, Abia state .
He noted that in 2018, the statement of account of the National Secretariat reflected that Waheed Odusile as president loaned N21m to the union, which could not be properly accounted for.
“In 2018, the statement of account of the National Secretariat reflected that Waheed Odusile as president loaned N21m to the union.
“That stalled the conference for almost an hour as he could not explain how as I insisted clarity on the loan”, he added
Odusile, who is presently the Ogun State Commissioner for Information was seeking a re-election into the NUJ National Secretariat in 2018, but lost his bid to Chris Iziguso in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
However, efforts to reach the former president and Ogun State Commissioner for information, Alh. Waheed Odusile proved abortive as the only known phone number of the Commissioner was switched off for about two hours of trying.
Meanwhile, in a related development, Comrade Chris Iziguso, has been elected unopposed by delegates at the 7th triennial congress in Umuahia, Abia State.
Iziguso’s emergence following the withdrawal from the election by the only opposing candidate, Comrade Yusuf Idris.
Confirming the withdrawal, the Chairman, National Credentials Committee, Garba Muhammed stated that it’s office received the withdrawal on the eve of the election, saying “Comrade Chris Iziguso is hereby returned unopposed due to the withdrawal of the only opposing candidate, Comrade Yusuf Idris yesterday”.
