ABEOKUTA– The indigenes of Lufuwape Community in Obafemi-Owode Local Government area of Ogun State have appealed to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun over the invasion of their land by suspected land speculators.
The community, through the Vice Chairman of the Community Development Association(CDA), Mike Opia made this known at a press conference held in the community.
The Vice Chairman lamented that the suspected land grabbers were allegedly been aided by some security personnel to torment residents over their landed properties, adding that this experience have subjected residents to nightmare experiences.
He further stated that number of the buildings under construction were forcefully pull down at gun point by the bandits.
Opia recalled that in one of the attack launched by the bandits, he was hit by bullets from the land speculators, adding that number of residents were also victims of the violence attack.
The Vice Chairman while conducting newsmen round the community, showed number of building foundations being destroyed by the bandits.
Opia accompanied by other elders of the community said one of the residents identified as Adebayo Omorenu was during one of the attacks, kidnapped by the landgrabbers with the aid of some suspected cultists
He however alleged that the community had made several reports to the Ogun State Police Command, lamenting that no feedback on the petition till date.
According to Opia, “We started experiencing this bad taste from the landgrabbers since 2010 till date, these guys are aided by some security personnel, many of them established to be coming from neighbouring Lagos State. We have written to police command, but no feedback till today”
The CDA alleged that one Moruta Afolabi, having being established to be responsible for the shooting of residents is evading arrest, and still walking freely on the street despite it’s petition to the Ogun State Police
“We are using this medium to passionately appeal to our Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and the government of the state to come to our aid, before the bandits ruin our community. We have been suffering in silence since 2010, and we cannot bear the humiliation and threat any longer” he concludes
