IKOM– The Election Tribunal has today delivered judgment in favor of Hon. Pst. [Mrs] Mercy Nsor and Hon. Maurice Ndome Ekpando as the bonafide Chairman and Vice Chairman of Ikom Local Government Council, respectively.
Recall that the November poll had the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) sweeping the 18 Chairmanship and the 196 Councillorship seats in Cross River State, with Hon. Pst. [Mrs] Mercy Nsor winning as Ikom Local Government Chairman.
However, November 23rd may have come and gone for other Local Governments, not Ikom, with the Young People’s Party(YPP) being a reason.
The YPP, has been in Court challenging the victory of Hon. Pst. [Mrs] Mercy Nsor, CROSIEC, and the All Progressives Congress [APC] on grounds of omission of their Party when the result of winners was announced; therefore, calling for outright cancellation of the process, and demanding for fresh elections to be conducted.
The truth of the matter is that CROSIEC as an unbiased umpire concentrated on announcing the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th for a few local governments like Calabar Municipality, Calabar South, Ikom, who had a few parties in a feeble contention, not a relatively unknown, but pretentious YPP in Ikom local government, challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and the eventual winner Hon. Pst. [Mrs] Mercy Nsor, and calling for utter cancellation of elections.
Today, to the Glory of God, all litigations have been laid to rest with the Election Tribunal held in Calabar declaring Hon. Pst. [Mrs] Mercy Nsor and her Vice Chairman, Hon. Maurice Ndome Ekpando, including all the Councillors as winners of the November 23rd Local Government poll.
Being magnanimous in victory, the Executive Chairman of Ikom Local Government Council, Hon. Mercy Nsor, has called on all parties involved to sheath their swords and rather join hands with her to move Ikom to the highest Pinnacle.
The outcome of the tribunal is a clear indication that the victory of the Honorable Chairman was outrightly ordained by God Almighty and it’s also a clear indication that all the electoral processes were duly and diligently followed.
