IKOM–Just like Santa, the Wife of the State Governor, Bishop [Mrs] Eyoanwan Otu has appeared early for Children as she flags off the Central Senatorial District Carnival in Ikom Local Government Area.
With over 3,000 Children across the 6 Local Government Areas in attendance and adorned in beautiful regalia, the Children were treated to Educational and Social sections, treating them to a lifetime of fun and merriment.
Bishop Eyoanwan Otu, while flagging off the Central Senatorial District Carnival, noted that Children as leaders of tomorrow are to be well nurtured in love and embraced at all times to boost their confidence.
Represented by the former Commissioner for Sustainable Development, Mrs Ekwele Agube assured the Children of Her Excellency’s commitment to restoring and uplifting their wellbeing.
Host and Chairman of Ikom Local Government Area, Hon. Pastor [Mrs] Mercy Nsor, commended the State Government for decentralizing the Carnival and giving the Children a sense of belonging and inclusiveness.
She said her administration would continue to prioritize the needs and welfare of Children to ensure their grooming.
In a Vote of thanks presented by one of the Children, Daniella Daniel Eyam, she expressed gratitude to the Leadership of the State and Local Government for their intentionality in promoting the course of Children.
The event had numerous displays and talent exhibitions, including dancing, drama, and speech presentations, while dignitaries included the Secretary of the Council, Directors of the LGC, Representative of the Nigerian Police Force, and the Carnival planning committee.
The participating LGAs include Ikom, Boki, Yakurr, Abi, Etung, and Obubra.
