9 dies in Ogun fatal crash

ABEOKUTA — Ninepersons have been confirmed dead following a fatal crash which occured at the Kere bridge, along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, Tuesday.

A statement by the Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun state command, Florence Okpe stated that about 17 persons were involved in the crash.

She added that 7 persons were injured from the crash which involved two vehicles, a black Truck with no registration number and a white Mazda bus with registration number SMK808YD.

“The suspected causes of the fatal crash were over-speeding and one-way (Route violation) that led to head on collision of the two vehicles.

“The injured victims were taken to General Hospital Ijaye while the corpses were deposited at Lantoro Hospital/ General Hospital Ijaye Abeokuta.

“The Sector Commander FRSC Ogun CC Anthony Uga cautioned motorist on route violation and excessive speed, pointing out the dangers associated with the two critical offences.

“He further advised motorist to adhere to traffic rules and regulations and that the road is a shared asset we.must use it together.

“The Sector Commander sympathized with the family of the crash victims”, the statement reads
