SAGAMU– Athletes billed to represent Ogun state at the forthcoming 22nd National Sports Festival has stagged a protest at the Ikenne camp.
The athletes, who came with placards bearing various inscription such as, “Settle the athletes, have a successful festival”, ” Unpronounced camp allowance, unpronounced contract fee”, “No allowance, No festival”, “10 days to festival, no proper preparation” Amongst others.
Recall that the state government recently gave various sports associations the sum of five hundred thousand to prepare for the festival.
The recent protest, few days to the opening ceremony is however seen my many stakeholders as a bad taste to the success of the state at the festival.
Efforts to reach the commissioner for sports development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka however proof abortive as his phone was busy before filing this report.
