The chairman of the league of registered political parties (LRPP) Ogun State chapter, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday has a admonished political parties to play the roles of opposition constructively.
Oginni made this known while delivering a lecture at the inaugural lecture of the LRPP at Olumo Rock Multipurpose Hall, Abeokuta adding that the role of political parties is not only on the electioneering process but that to build an egalitarian society is a task to be done collectively.
In his words ” every political party is a watchdog on the affairs and governance of a state. One of the fundamental roles and duties of political parties is to advise the government in power on the state matters without sentiments”
“It is therefore our submission and conviction that we shall have a better and greater society where opportunities abound far all and sandy when political parties are alive to their responsibilities”
Speaking on the theme of the inaugural lecture titled, “Security challenges and the roles of political parties” Oginni stated that most of the security challenges facing the nation today needs political solutions rather than guns and bullets.
The chairman further reteraites that most of the security breaches created by politicians snowballs into a wider and serious challenges that may require years and months to curb.
“The purpose of this gathering this morning is to holistically look at ourselves as leaders with a very serious cross examination of our roles to ensure a conducive security environment for good governance and development” he said
He therefore advised the state government to make use of the presentation and lectures for the betterment of the security network of the State.
