The Chairman of the Ogun State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Adebayo Dayo has described the ward congress which was held across the state’s 236 wards as “a huge success”.
Speaking on the exercise at his Japara country home in Ijebu Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government, Dayo said that the party recorded 97 per cent success at the congress.
He said some of the elected officers emerged by consensus and mutual agreements in some wards while others emerged through election.
“I am going to leave office a happy man. Today’s ward congress is a huge success. The ward congress took place in the 236 wards in the state. No casualty was recorded.
“The ward congress is the most challenging of the congresses because it has to do with our people at the grassroots. We have shamed the desperados that are trying to hijack the party through the back door,” he said.
Also speaking, the publicity secretary of the party, Mr. Oyejide Sunkanmi said the exercise went as planned, adding that the party was in the process of repositioning itself with the exit of the black legs within its fold.
