ABEOKUTA–The Olu of Imasayi-Yewa HRM Oba (Rtn) Lukman Adeleke Kuoye, Fcim has mourned the sudden murder of a close aide to the Senator representing Ogun West, Sen. Solomon Adeola Olamilekan ‘Yayi’, Mr Adeniyi Sanni in Lagos.
A statement credited to Kayode Odunaro, Yayi’s spokesman via a statement on Saturday, 5th August, 2023, stated that Adeniyi Sanni’s corpse, riddled with bullets, was dumped at Toyota bus stop in Oshodi area of Lagos by passers-by who called the wife through the next of kin phone number on his driver’s license.
The statement indicated that Sanni had earlier called his wife to send his vehicle papers to him on Whatsapp, indicating that he was stopped by security operatives at a checkpoint in Berger Area.
But the wife raised alarm as her husband became unreachable before the sad news of discovery of his remains was broke to her.
The statement reads in part: “Information available to the bereaved Senator in Abuja indicates that Mr. Sanni was stopped at a checking point around Berger Area of Lagos on his way to his home at Isheri by security agents.
“He was asked to provide the documents of the car he was driving, which he did through his wife who sent all the documents to him on WhatsApp.
“It was gathered that the wife called a while later and the late Mr. Sanni told him they are still checking the vehicle papers.
“His apprehensive wife later called on Mr. Sanni’s associates to say he could no longer reach her husband on phone necessitating the mobilization of a search party.
“She was later called by a passer-by through the next of kin phone number on her husband’s drivers’ license that the body of Mr. Sanni was dumped around Toyota Bus Stop in Oshodi with gunshot wounds.
“Senator Adeola who is involved in the ongoing ministerial screening at the Senate is shocked beyond words and devastated by the news of this sad incident, as Mr. Sanni was his close aide for over two decades”.
The monarch in a statement made available to newsmen through his media aide, Hakeem Adegbenro commiserate with Senator Adeola Olamilekan, saying that the death of Adeniyi Sanni is a loss to the Yayi’s movement in Yewaland and Ogun West by extension.
Oba Kuoye noted that the was about to call the late Sanni when he read it on social media that he has been murdered by yet to be identified gunmen at a check point at Berger area, adding that his death came as a rude shock to the entire members of Yewa Traditional Council.
“How do you describe hearing of the death of someone whom the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, HRM Oba (Dr) ESV Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, Mfr about calling before it was read on social media that he has been shot, Olu queried!
He therefore called on the Acting Inspector General of Police, to conduct a proper investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the top aide to the senator, adding that his last known location was with some security operatives, which according to him calls for special attention.
