ABEOKUTA–The Ogun government on Monday 8th of March 2021, has received 50,000 out of 100,000 expected doses of COVID -19 consignment vaccines from the Federal government.
While giving a speech about the vaccines at the governor’s office Abeokuta, Oke Mosan Abeokuta, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun made it clear that, it is 100,000 Vaccines dosses that was given to Ogun State, but 50,000 vaccines was received while the remaining vaccines would be received today’s night.
While speaking, “It is my pleasure that Ogun State is the first state that receive the COVID-19 vaccines dosses accross Nigeria”, Abiodun mentioned.
He therefore explained that, Ogun State is also the first state that COVID-19 was detected before other states in the country.
Gov. Abiodun appreciated president Muhammad Buhari, he also thanked the president Tasks Force, Boss Mustapha and all other agencies like; NCDC, WHO, UNIICEF, COVA, for their efforts on COVID-19.
“We would commend the distribution of the vaccines dosses with the schedule guidelines under the National Primary Health Care Development Agency ( NPHCDA )”, Gov. Abiodun explained.
The state government had identified particular state hospitals, general hospitals, primary health care centres across the state that would be eligible for the vaccination, He added.
“I am sure you are aware that there is a portal that already exist and there is a link that allows you to register or preregister and identify your local government so it can be close to the available centre as possible.
“This vaccines that we are getting, the protocol is that we get the first shot and then we get the booster shots and it is not until we get that booster shots that we have the required level of immunity.
Abiodun encouraged that “now that we are beginning to see the end of pandemic, COVID-19 protocols will continue to obtain”.
“We will be prioritising our front line health workers, our elders and we go down the line as stipulated by NPHCDA.
Gov. Abiodun Expressed his feelings that, we have started witnessing the end of pandemic that has disrupted lives in the last one year and a month.
While speaking with journalists, Gov. Abiodun said, “We’ll surely take the vaccines dosses, starting from me, my deputy, and my Commissioners because it has already confirmed in Abuja that, it is safe.
