ABEOKUTA — The Olu of Imasayi Kingdom in Yewa North local government area of Ogun state, Oba Lukman Kuoye has urged Nigerians living in diaspora to contribute in the economy development by investing in the country.
Oba Kuoye stated this in an interview with newsmen on Friday at the grand opening of Mafis Royal International Hotel, located at Customs road quarry Abeokuta, the state capital.
The monarch while stressing that the backsliding on the country’s economy was tied to the exchange rate appealed to Nigerians to grab the opportunity and invest in the country.
He applauded the CEO, Alhaja Mojisola Fowewe, for the giant stride and emphasized that the hotel’s inauguration was a way to lower the state’s unemployment rate.
“ For the very first day i came here i was encouraged , for someone who is a Nigerian working in the UK who knows that she should come and invest in her father’s land has done well.
“ I want to encourage all those who are still there to remember home. Let’s look at what this has done to help the economy, she has been able to employ more than 20 graduates and undergraduates who will be working with her and by extension she equally extended the gesture to other spheres.
“ The backsliding we are having in Nigeria economy is the exchange rate so if our people are coming to invest whatever they make over there it will go a long way here.
In the same vein, Commissioner of Lagos State Audit Service commission, Musiliu Aigoro
called on Nigerians in diaspora to return home to establish their businesses adding that the country will be great as the President Bola Tinubu’s administration focused on change.
