IKOM– Today, the traditional rulers and the entire Olulumo Community have conferred a prestigious title on their esteemed daughter, the Executive Chairman of Ikom Local Government Area, Hon Pst. [Mrs] Mercy Nsor, in recognition of her outstanding achievements and contributions towards the growth and development of the community and as the first elected Chairman of Ikom LGA from Olulumo Community.
Hon. Mercy Nsor, a trailblazer and a shining star, has made her community proud by emerging as the first elected Executive Chairman of Ikom Local Government Area from Olulumo Community. This remarkable feat is a testament to her leadership acumen, vision, and dedication to the development of the community.
“As a Community, we are proud to associate with Hon. Pst. Mercy Nsor, whose selfless service, integrity, and passion for community development have earned her a special place in our hearts.
Therefore, in appreciation of her remarkable achievement and contributions to our community, we confer on her, the title of “OTURIKANG AWANI OF OLULUMO COMMUNITY” which translates to “The Light Of The Women of Olulumo Community.”
May this title serve as a reminder of our Community’s appreciation for her service and inspire her to continue working tirelessly for the betterment of our communities.” The Okim Okwa of Olulumo, Okim Anthony stated.
In her response during her reception/honor, Hon. Nsor disclosed that, with the level of Infrastructural decay suffered over the years through negligence and vandalism, there’s an urgent need for all stakeholders to unite in fostering a new course that will place Olulumo on the map of advanced communities. She thanked the traditional rulers and the entire Olulumo Community for the honor and assured them of more development and peace.
In her words; “Our community’s infrastructure is also in dire need of urgent attention. I will be embarking on a comprehensive program of street rehabilitation, ensuring that our roads are safe, accessible, and conducive to enhancing economic growth. There are plans on ground to open and expand our roads, even if it’s to grade all the surfaces of our roads.
Other sectors such as Agriculture, Healthcare, Security, Transportation, Education, and Humanitarian Services will also be placed on our list of priorities, and adequate measures will follow up to actualize all-around benefits and lasting solutions to youth restiveness and unemployment.”
The Olulumo Community thanked the State Governor, His Excellency Sen. [Prince] Bassey Edet Otu, and his Wife, Bishop Eyoawan Otu, for their exemplary leadership, which has further projected the state in a good light and fostered development.
On her conferment, the Olulomo community said the community has found favor in the sight of God by picking one of theirs to lead the local government area.
The event had in attendance the Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon. Maurice Ndome Ekpando; the S.A Peace and Security, Hon. Agbor Esija; former Auditor General of the State, Comrade John Mpama Odey; Councillors of various Wards, Director of the Internal Revenue Service, Eld. Dr.Ndoma Odey, Council Directors and Staff, Supervisors, Political Appointees, Religious Leaders, Youth Representatives, etc.
