C’River: Ikom LGA Restrict Trucks Activities Along Calabar Road

IKOM– The Executive Chairman of Ikom Local Government in Cross River State, Hon. Pst. [Mrs] Mercy Nsor has announced the restrictions in the activities of articulated trucks along the Calabar road.

The chairman, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ntemoyuk Christopher Ntemoyuk noted that the loading and offloading of truck along the route will be between the hours of 6am to 9pm.

The CPS added fhat this decision is aimed at reducing traffic congestion, preventing accidents, and promoting the safety and well-being of citizens.

“The Ban is in line with the Council’s commitment to ensuring the free flow of traffic and maintaining law and order in the area.

“All truck operators and drivers are advised to comply with this directive thereby loading and offloading within the hours of 10 pm through 5 am daily, as failure to do so will result in penalties and sanctions.

“The Executive Chairman will on a later date to be announced soon, meet with the leadership of the Market Association and Building Material Union for an important meeting on a possible way forward.

“The Council has put in place measures to enforce this Ban and ensure that the roads are safe for all users, as such, a taskforce will therefore be formed to ensure strict compliance.

“The Council appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all stakeholders and citizens in this matter”, the statement reads
