SAGAMU— Traders and customers at the Awolowo Market, Sagamu were seen disobeying all health protocols put in place to flattened the curve of the spread of covid-19 by the state government.
The News Ville, during a routine monitoring of some major markets in the state note that majority of the traders were seen without wearing the nosemarks, neither were seen engaging in physical distancing.
Speaking with The News Ville, one of the traders identified simply as Kamoru stated that he has his nosemarks in his pocket but couldn’t use it cus it’s really not an easy task to do
“I use the nosemarks periodically because it’s not easy using it all the time sir. Sometimes, I have headaches from almost suffocation as a result of using the nosemarks” he said
Another customer who spoke with The News Ville on condition of anonymity, said she doesn’t believe that coronavirus is present in the country so there is no need inconveniencing herself by using the nosemarks.
When The News Ville sort the reaction of the executive members of the market, the Iyaloja of Awolowo Market, Mrs Esther Osilesi said that the leadership of the market is disturbed by the development despite the regulations put in place in the market.
“We have tried to sensitise our members on the health protocols put in place by the state government to flattened the curve of the spread of covid-19″
” But it is highly regrettable that some persons especially our customers have refused to comply”
” However, we will be more stricter now by stationing our taskforce at every entrance to the market. Anyone without nosemarks will not be allowed into the market henceforth” she said
