In a quick response to the first coronavirus outbreak in the country, no fewer than twenty eight people who have had close contact with the Italian victim have been quarantined.
This was made known by the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun during a Press Conference at his Oke Mosan office today.
The Governor emphasized that there is no need for the public to panic as the facility visited by the victim in Ewekoro is equally been shut down for close monitoring.
According to the Governor, ” the company in question in Ewekoro has practically shut down as we speak. They have also set up two isolation centres within the company, and they have also identified those who have had close contact with this index, totally about 28 and all of those 28 people have been quarantine”
“They are also looking and interviewing those contacts to find out who they have also been in contact with so as to ensure that these other people are also quarantine”
Abiodun further stated that the government of Ogun is in the process of setting up a full Biosecurity centre in Sagamu to further enhance the chances of detection and treatment.
“Because of the traffic time between Ogun State to Lagos where the Biosecurity Centre is located, we have also decided to step up our isolation centre at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital to a Biosecurity Centre”
“We have also set up Disease Surveillance Notification Centres in the 20 Local Government Centres of our state. We have also set up an emergency operation centre in Oke Mosan and that is to ensure we are in term with our emergency, preparedness and response” the governor said
The governor however implore public not to panic, as his administration is on top of the situation and doing everything possible to contain the spread of the virus adding that the people should step up on their personal hygiene.
