ABEOKUTA– The Ogun state deputy governor, Engr. Naimot Salako Oyedele has urged Nigerians to embrace peaceful co-exitence, saying that non religion peaces violence.
The Deputy Governor made this known on Monday, while sharing Iftar with about 20 Islamic groups across the state held at her lodge, in Ibara housing Estate, Abeokuta.
She maintained that the country is a unique one, having about 200 different ethnic group, with 2 major religion thus the need for ethnic and religious tolerance.
“Despite our differences and challenges, we have to come together to protect the interest of the country and make sure of its greatness
“At the end of the day we all have identities, the important thing is that we learn good lessons that no Religion preaches violence, it is for the good and benefits of humanity, so we should all imbibe, and make sure this doesn’t divide us,
“This country has been a country about 200 ethnic groups, and two major religion for as long as the country being together. It is our responsibility as a leader in this generation to make sure the country remains one and doesn’t get divided”, she noted
Speaking at the Iftar, the Chief Missioner of Nawarudeen, Sheik Abdul Mojeed Ayinla admonished the congregants to imbibe the tenets of Islam, saying that the peaceful co-exitence between all religion should be paramount.
He added that charity begins at home, thus women form part of nurturing peace in society by taking responsibility of bringing the family together, and take care of the next generation and responsible for food governance.
