ABEOKUTA– The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to prepare for it’s days as opposition party instead of meddling with how it’s petition was filed to the election tribunal.
This was contained in a press statement made available to The News Ville on Monday, by its Publicity Secretary, Asiwaju Akinloye Bankole in Abeokuta.
According to Bankole, the party expressed it’s belief in the judiciary, rule of law, saying that the APC should jettisoned any hope that it could secure a second term in office through the back door.
“As much as we expect that the watertight petition filed by our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, and our gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Dr. Oladipupo Adebutu, at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, would send sent jitters into the camp of the outgoing governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and his sinking APC ship, we, however, thought they would face their imminent defeat with some modicum of decency.
“This is especially so because many officials of the rejected administration of Mr. Abiodun are secretly admitting that their days in office are indeed numbered given the unintelligent ways the subversion of the popular will of the people of Ogun state was carried out during the gubernatorial election; and that our party truly has unlimited dexterity and acumen to prove our case and recover the mandate as freely and fairly given to us by Ogun people.
“It is therefore laughable that the APC, through its despicable errand voice has again, embarked on voyage of needless face saving and grandstanding. Tunde Oladunjoye and Dapo Abiodun can not advise us on how we choose to conduct our petition at the tribunal.
“As a matter of fact, they should take their shoddy ways away far from the tribunal. The tribunal must neither be compromised nor contaminated.
“May we, very quickly inform Mr. Oladunjoye, the author of the horrible litany called press statements and the APC not to shore up their forlorn hope of earning a second term through the judiciary.
“Instead, they should channel their energies to seeking for pardon from the people whom the APC government have traumatized since its inception. This is the only honorable way for Mr. Abiodun and the APC to take.
“Again, we wish to reiterate our unwavering belief in democracy and rule of law. We can only enjoin elements such as Oladunjoye and his principals to allow the honorable members of the election tribunal to discharge their duties without any form of interference.
“The people are clear in their choice of PDP; no wonder Abeokuta, the state capital went agog immediately our petition was filed two days ago. Clearly, APC and Abiodun no longer have any business near government in Ogun state, going forward”, the statement reads
