ABEOKUTA — The Ogun state Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has described the suspension of campaigns by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) due to the spate of reaction in public about the scarcity of cash and fuel as a case of shedding crocodile tears.
In a press statement by the Publicity Secretary, Asiwaju Akinloye Bankole, it noted that the APC has been insensitive to the plight of the citizens, and as such cannot term it’s campaign suspension as reasonable
“The spate of violent reactions by a section of the public especially in Abeokuta, the capital city of Ogun is assuming a more dangerous dimension on daily basis. Sad enough, the only response from the ruling Dapo Abiodun government in putting the frightening situation to reasonable check was to announce suspension of his public campaign for an undeserved reelection.
“For the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, this position is a delibrate attempt; cleverly orchestrated to play the victim. Prince Dapo Abiodun and his rudderless APC who have consciously refused to provide an inspiring leadership to the good people of Ogun state can not, in all honesty be the victims of the same policies put in place by the federal government under the control of the same APC. Dapo Abiodun should stop being clever by half.
“From all indications, the governor and his wrecked ship, the APC are only trying to play a fast game on the innocent members of the public by shedding crocodile tears; pretending to care about his people when he had, in the last three years, despite genuine calls, the responsibility and opportunity to provide compassionate leadership but blatantly refused to do so for the people.
“Again, we make bold to encourage the people to remain resolute and firm. They must not be carried away by any form of emergency show of empathy by a “fake friend ” who has consistently refused to identify with the state’s civil servants and retirees but hellbent on scamming innocent members of the public to earn a reelection by all manners of crooked means.
“It should be made abundantly clear that it is the same ruling APC federal government that created the current socioeconomic mess we are all wallowing in now. Therefore, it is the loss of all moral standing that fuelled the suspension of campaign. Dapo Abiodun has spectacularly lost face with the people and he is afraid to face the people to justify and/or explain his serial failures in the first place, hence he is feigning solidarity with the genuine victims of APC’s misrule.
“As a responsible political party, it is on reliable authority that PDP has never and will never run away from its responsibilities, and as such, we shall stand with the people in strong solidarity to continue to identify with the people on this particular woe-one too many brought on the people by the fumbling APC.
“More importantly, the PDP and indeed, our governorship candidate, Hon.( Dr) Oladipupo Olatunde Adebutu and other candidates of our party will continue to consciencetize, educate and mobilize the people on one-on-one contact, campaigns and mass rallies on the immediate need to rescue and reposition our darling Ogun state for a complete reset.
“We shall be doing this, not because we do not share the pains of our people, but because we have a duty to educate and liberate the people from the shackles of lies and bare faced deceits of Dapo Abiodun and his government. This is a cause of action we are prepared to take as we build up to the next round of general elections.
“While we urge the people to remain calm and peaceful in their daily conducts, especially during these trying periods, we wish to impress it on them that current attempt by the ruling APC government and its agencies to destroy the macro business economy of the people via defective design and unprofessional delivery of what naturally should be a laudable fiscal policy (cashless and currency change/redesign) for the nation, is another reason to vote out the APC from all levels of governance; both national and state levels in the coming elections.
“The people must, in the spirit of patriotism redirect and redeploy their anger against the APC by voting them out at the coming polls.
“This is the wisest option in a democracy. It is the consequence of grave and unpardonable ineptitude and cluelessness of leadership. Such must never happen in Ogun state again”, the statement reads
