ABEOKUTA — The Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has said his administration will partner Penpushing Media and other organisations in achieving it’s Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the state.
Abiodun gave this assurance when the Management Board of the media outfit paid him a courtesy visit at the Presidential Lodge, Ibara in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The governor commended Penpushing Media for it’s CRS towards lifting one Sarah Ajayi, a visually impaired person and Abiodun Omoyayi, a wheelchair bound person from the street.
Sarah Ajayi is now a graduate in Hospitality Management, Information and Communication (ICT), Use of English and Bead Making from the school for the blind, with the assistance of former Military Administrator of Ogun State, Colonel Daniel Akintonde (rtd).
In the same vein, Abiodun Omoyayi, a physically challenged graduate of Mass Communications from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic is now gainfully employed by the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Abeokuta ably supported by Mrs Bola Obasanjo, the wife of the former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo
Governor Abiodun however called on other organisations in the state to take a queue from Penpushing Media guesture, while directing that Sarah Ajayi would be adequately onboarded into the state government scheme through the Ministry of Women Affairs.
“I want to thank you for what you stand for in terms of what propelled you which is getting rid of fake news and presenting objective news to the public.
“We are a promise keeping administration. All what we promise we would do, we never promised what we cannot deliver, we never claim to be able to do it everything.
“We will collaborates more with you, especially in your CRS which to me is a good gesture worthy of emulation by other cooperate organisations in the state”, he said
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Board and former Lagos NUJ chairman, Mrs Funke Fadigba lauded the giant strides of the Dapo Abiodun led administration in infrastructural development, while assuring that Penpushing Media would always be a “shoulder to lean on”.
She maintained that Penpushing Media, having been founded 5 years ago has not retrieved any story it published owing to it’s policy of strict adherence to truth and caution.
She added that it’s incurable value to journalism practice, and the fight against fake news globally is the driving force behind the media outfit.
“Penpushing believes that the society must entrench truth and it must be used in our society.
“We want to commend you for democratizing the infastructure and expanding it to the fringes of the state”, she noted.
The Chairman disclosed that the integrity of Penpushing Media has earned it an enviable position in the media industry, adding that the organisation is in partnership with a number of reputable international organisations which include United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), member of International Press Institute (IPI) and Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) and Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) among others.
