ABEOKUTA– Segun Sowunmi, the former media aide to Atiku Abubakar, has emerged the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State in what appears to be a parallel Congress conducted at the NUJ secretariat, Iwe iroyin Abeokuta on Wednesday.
Sowunmi was declared the winner haven polled the total of 555 votes, while 30 votes and 15 votes were recorded in favour of Otunba Jimi Lawal and Hon. Ladi Adebutu respectively.
The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr Abayomi Daniel declared Segun Showunmi as the winner after the vote count.
The ex-spokesman of the former vice president appreciated the delegates for electing him, promising that he will not disappoint them.

However, as at the time of filing this report, another Congress is said to be holding at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), where Otunba Jimi Lawal and Hon Ladi Adebutu is said to be front runners.
