ABEOKUTA– The Organised labour in Ogun State after an intensive meeting the representatives of the state government, led by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Olatokunbo Talabi today have called off the 7 days warning strike embarked upon to demand the implementation of the minimum Wage.
In a memorandum of understanding reached at the meeting, and signed by all parties involved, it was stated that the Implementation of the Signed New Minimum Wage, the State Government agreed to commence implementation effective from October, 2020.
It was also agreed that the State Government will earmark the sum of N500,000,000.00 for the clearance of Gratuity on quarterly basis while payment would commence latest by January, 2021.
The Ogun State Government further agreed to commence the process of the outstanding 2018, 2019 and 2020 Promotion Exercise with immediate effect.
Other issues agreed upon by the two parties includes, suspend actions on the proposed Year 2020 Pension Amendment Bill with the plan to constitute a Committee comprising both representatives of Government and Labour Sides to take an in-depth look into the issue
Other demands by Organized Labour would be subjects of joint reviews, the first of which will be in March, 2021.
Present at the meeting includes, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Olatokunbo Talabi, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo (Commissioner For Finance), The Head of Service, Alhaja S.O Ottun, Chief of Staff, Alh. Salisu Shuaibu, Mr. K.P Fagbohun, Permanent Secretary,Bureau of Service Matters and Mrs B.L Fajounbo, Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Training who represented the state government.
While the NLC Chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Bankole, TUC Vice Chairman, Comrade Akeem Lasisi, chairman, JNC, Comrade Olanrewaju Folorunso and Secretary, JNC, Comrade Olusegun Adebiyi signed on behalf the labour movement.
