CALABAR– The Cross River State government today has made testing of Coronavirus free at Lawrence Henshaw Memorial Infectious Diseases Hospital, Calabar, an NCDC approved laboratory in the state.
The Commissioner for Health and chairman Covid-19 Response and Taskforce, Dr. Betta Edu stated this in a press release made available to newsmen in Calabar, stressing that citizens having symptoms related to Coronavirus can now available themselves for testing at the hospital.
The release which reads in parts stated that, ” The Cross River State COVID-19 Response and Taskforce is thereby calling on ciutizens having symptoms related to Coronavirus to avail themselves for testing at Lawrence Henshaw Memorial Infectious Disease Hospital, Calabar Road by Edgerley”
“While it is important to get yourself tested if you have signs or symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 or you have made contact with persons who have tested positive then you should test,not everyone should test”
“That said if you have symptoms such as cough, fever or difficulty in breathing, lose of taste and smell immediately call the Coronavirus Helpline Numbers for queries or support. You can also walk through or drive through and get tested. Get free COVID-19 test by following the steps below:
Step 1: Call the COVID-19 helpline number *08031230527*(Toll-Free) and report your symptoms.
Step 2: If you qualify as a case for COVID-19 testing as per the protocol, then you will be tested at a government-approved NCDC lab only.
Step 3: You can get free COVID-19 tests at our laboratories designated by the Government of Cross River State Beginning with the Lawrence Henshaw Memorial Hospital (IDH) calabar”
She however call on the General public to take responsibility, seek help if sick and protect themselves by using face mask always.
