Benedict Okache- CALABAR The Cross Rive State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (CRS-NIPR) has been adjudged as the overall best performing chapter in Nigeria for the year ended 2019.
Cross River State chapter emerged from among thirty six States and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Chapters of the Institute after a thorough scrutiny of all activities of the Chapters, including payment of Professional Practice Fees by members, attendance at Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Training Programmes ( MCPD) Master Class Training Programmes, attendance at the Annual National Conference of the Institute,neat organization and maintenance of robust liaison between the Chapter and the National Secretariat Abuja.
The President and Chairman of the Nigerian institute of Public Relations Governing Council, Mallam Murhtar Sirajo, FNIPR, while announcing the result at a colourful event held at Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Lagos, congratulated Cross River State Chapter for again emerging the 2019 overall best performing chapter in the country after two successive first positions in 2017 and 2018 and charged other chapters to work hard to overtake Cross River State.
The Cross River State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Comrade Asu Okang, who presented the award to the State Chairman of NIPR Ntunkae Offion Ani Offiong , on behalf of the NIPR President during the Chapter’s January 2020 general Meeting held at the Conference room of the Ministry of Information and Orientation, Calabar, congratulated the Chapter for the award which he described as very timely as it came simultaneously with when he resumed office as Commissioner for Information and Orientation and tasked members of the chapter to remain focused in order to retain the prime position which the chapter has attained over the years.
Comrade Okang who was at the meeting as an intending member,explained that he was highly honoured to present such a great new year gift to the chapter on his maiden attendance as a member,noting the event will remain memorable in his entire life.
He assured of his commitment to maintain set standards in Public Relations practice in the State, emphasizing that he will provide maximum leadership as Chief Host of the Institute in the State to support the Chapter’s activities at all times.
The highly elated Commissioner immediately approved the allocation of an office space in one of the buildings being renovated in the Ministry to serve as temporal Secretariat of the Chapter when completed and directed the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Aye Henshaw ii, who is also a Senior Member of the Chapter; to immediately work out modalities for the equipping of the office space to ensure its take off before the end of February 2020.
The State Chairman of Cross River NIPR, Ntunkae Offiong Ani Offiong, while receiving the award on behalf of the Chapter, dedicated the award to God and entire members of the chapter, who she described as being responsible for the award in view of their solid support to her administration in the last three years.
Ntunkae Offiong Ani thanked the Commissioner for the honour done the chapter and lauded his humble disposition as well as decision to get registered with the Institute as a practicing member in the State and assured him that everything will be done to guarantee the realization of this intentions in line with professional guidelines.
