Oba Sowemimo Cries Out Over Alledged Invasion Of His Communities By Landgrabbers.

The Traditional Ruler of Owode-Egba in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Kolawole Sowemimo has made a passionate plea to the state government over what he describe as an attempt by some landgrabbers to sack indigenes of communities under him.

The monarch made this plea at his palace in Owode while addressing newsmen, adding that the landgrabbers who are well known are also fond of lodging frivolous petitions against his people at the Police Command.

“The latest plot of the landgrabbers was a petition written against five elders of our villages, which prompted the Ogun State Police Command inviting them for interrogation over fathom allegation of possession of firearms”

“The invitation letter dated January 15, 2020 requested that Sarafa Sunday, Segun Adelani, Ganiyu Fidimaye, Taofeek Sanusi and Samson Oyede to report to the police headquarters on Wednesday, the 22nd” Oba Sowemimo said

The invitation letter, signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, Wale Abbas stated that “this office is investigating a case which your name featured prominently”

‘In view of this, therefore you are kindly invited to report to the office of the undersigned through O/C SEC.DC CID on 22nd January, 2020 by 10.00am. Accept the assurances of the Command’s best regards, please” the letter reads

One of the victim, Segun Adelani stated that the problem with the suspected landgrabbers started some years ago when some of the indigenes were arrested by police from Panti police station in Lagos over a ridiculous petition.

Similarly, Samson Oyede stated that the intention to hijack the villages by the landgrabbers started in 2011, when one Jamiu connived with the bandits to forcefully take over the communities founded by their forbears.

An octogenarian, Ganiyu Fidimaye who is also a victim of the brutality of the alleged landgrabbers, said the bandits had been tormenting the communities with dangerous weapons and had sacked some of the communities, adding that at a point they were taken to police headquarters in Abuja.

Present at the press briefing includes the royal father in company of some chiefs and residents of the communities of Malaka, Abule-Oba, Adejonrin, Omu Ajonire, Erufu Oke, Base, Sonde and Ate.
