ABEOKUTA– The Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) apex leaders of Ifo Local government area of Ogun state, Chief Joju Fadairo has said as far as the 2027 gubernatorial election is concerned, he will continue to offer prayers to all candidates, irrespective of their party affiliations.
Chief Fadairo stated this while reacting to a viral video of his alleged endorsement of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu during a meeting held at his residence in Abeokuta.
Addressing newsmen on Tuesday, Chief Fadairo stated that as an elder statesman, he reserved the rights to encourage, and offer prayers to all candidates, gunning for the top job.
He however stressed that his views are personal and does not translate to the opinion and standpoint of the apex leadership of the local government he chaired, adding that he stands by his statements
“I have never spoken on behalf of anybody. They (Apex Leaders) alleged that I have done something wrong, and I said I am sorry if that is the way they understood it. There is nothing wrong if I apologize to my people. I said so and I am not denying that.
“I never said I endorsed somebody against the other candidate. I am a leader of thought, I have reputation. Anybody trying to contest election, as a leader if they come, I will say ‘Olorun a mu e de ile ileri’ (God will take you to the promise land). I will tell as many of them that come to me. Even if you’re in the ADC, you can come to me. I am a leader of note.”
In their earlier address, members of the APC Apex Committee in Ifo Local Government however dissociated themselves from Chief Fadairo’s alleged endorsement of Ladi Adebutu.
