Foundation Empowers 150 Ogun Indigenes With Vocational Tools

ABEOKUTA– A Non-governmental organisation, Owu Empowerment Foundation (OEF) has empowered about one hundred and fifty Indigenes of Ogun state with different vocational items worth million of naira.

The empowerment items, 50 laptops, 20 deep freezers, 20 grinding machines, generators, hair dryers, and sewing machines were all donated by former governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun.

Speaking at the event, Sen. Amosun said the empowerment became necessary in view of the prevailing economic challenges facing the country, while emphasising the opportunity for self-improvement and community development.

Represented by his Director of Media, Bola Adeyemi , the former governor urged the beneficiaries to utilise the resources judiciously.

The Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof Saka Matemilola lauded the initiative, saying that OEF is empowerment and not freebies. He therefore cautioned against the misuse or sale of the provided items.

“Please make use of it judiciously, you can also be a donor through the gain from this empowerment.

“If you use it well it will encourage people to come and donate as well. But if you didn’t use it well, it might discourage other people who are willing to empower people through the Foundation and it will affect others who were supposed to benefit in the future”.

Meanwhile, the chairman, Board of Trustees (OEF), Dr. Banji Oyegbami said the the growth of the foundation has been achieved through endowment, grants and generous gifts and donations, while calling on other well meaning Indigenes to key into its programs.

“In OEF, we are bold to say that integrity is our watchword and it’s also our bond”, he said.

“Today’s empowerment is being single-handedly sponsored by Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, we thank you from the depth of our hearts for this kind gesture.

“This act of SIA is exemplary and worthy of emulation by all. It’s a challenge to highly-placed and blessed Owu sons and daughters to partner with OEF to empower our people”, he said
