Non Inauguration of OGHA: Tax Payers Money Not Secured Under Dapo Abiodun– Ogun PDP Youth Leader Says

ABEOKUTA — Following the non-existence of the legislative arm of government in Ogun state (OGHA), the youth leader of the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Oyejide Sunkanmi better known as Suco has declared that tax payers money is not secured under Gov. Dapo Abiodun, saying the situation is undemocratic and a disgrace to Ogun State.

The Egba born politician said the non-existence of the legislative arm of government means that the ogun treasury is not immune to sharp practice

Speaking further, he said the non-existence of the legislative arm of government who is saddled with the responsibility of checkmating the executive has dire consequences.

“The Legislative Assembly performs three important roles in its job of overseeing government: a legislative role, a financial role and an inquiry role. At the moment, our treasury is exposed to danger. Tax payers money is not safe under Gov. Abiodun. He is running the state alone.

“Ogun state has become a laughing stock. Gov. Abiodun’s Ineptitude is perpetually being joked at. My dear Gateway state is now an object of mockery. His maladministration, high handedness and insensitivity to the day to day running of government has further lowered Ogun standard. No wonder he was roundly rejected by the people of Ogun state as he lost his ward, local government, federal
constituency and senatorial district to Hon. Ladi Adebutu in the last governorship election.

“Abiodun’s bureaucratic incompetence has brought embarrassment upon Ogun state. A politically sophisticated state like ours deserves better.

“Furthermore, the governor further exhibited “maladroitness” by single-handedly appointing six special advisers which is a clear violation and contradiction to 1999 constitution (as amended). Sect 196 (1) “The Gov of a state may appoint any person as Special adviser to assist him in the performance of his functions. (2) The number of such advisers and their remuneration and allowances SHALL be as prescribed by law or by RESOLUTION of the HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY of the State. In this case no house resolution on the the number(s) to be appointed,” he said.
