OPINION– Why are we playing politics of hatred with Covid-19? Why so much hatred for Governor Ben Ayade? Why do we even have to feel or think there is Covid-19 in Cross River State and the Government is hiding it when in real essence there is none.
Or are we wishing to have a case in Cross River State so we can have a full session of wine reasons to blast the Governor and call him failure when he has strongly shown commitment and courage in fighting the pandemic.
I know so many wake up every morning from their slumber wishing there is a case in Cross River State so they can troop “en masse” to Social media and criticise the Governor. At this moment, shouldn’t we be appreciating the Governor’s effort instead of casting stones on him?
Is it so difficult if we keep aside our dirty local politics and do the following:-
* Eulogise him for providing face masks free for everyone
* Thank him for not totally shutting down the economy of Cross River State but creating 8,000 jobs for youths in four thematic areas; Health, Agriculture, Environment and Security.
* Hail him for not aggressively tackling the pandemic
* Praise him for using depleted federal allocation and lean resources to tackle the virus with no single support from Federal Government.
* Commend him for providing 500 million Naira funds, 50 vehicles for Covid-19 response and closing of borders .
Even Lagos State with support from Federal Government have their own challenges and shortcomings likewise Cross River State. Instead of condemning the effort of His Excellency let’s applause him for his effort so far. Lucky for us and to the glory of Almighty God, we are among the 7 States with no single case despite the fact that we are surrounded by neighboring states with more cases including the Republic of Cameroon with over 1000 cases.
